About

I'm a Kurdish-American legal professional. I have an LLM from UC Irvine School of Law and live in California. Most of my work sits at the intersection of the law and the people it's meant to serve. And I think technology has become an irreplaceable resource for it.

The law is written. How people decide is not.

That's the sentence at the center of all my work. The gap between what a legal system says and what people actually do under it is where I'm trying to look. Whether it's the research, the company that runs the system, or the sub-systems that feed it, all my work is trying to answer a few personal questions. What instincts shape human behavior when law shows up? How and why do we land on some decisions and not others?

Growing up between cultures made me unusually attentive to questions of order, legitimacy, and belonging. I care deeply about ethical seriousness, institutional trust, and the responsibilities that come with the law.

I love walking, soccer, the sound of the santur, and the music of Mazzy Star and Manchester Orchestra.

What I'm working on

sedat.us is the personal layer of the work: the place where I speak in my own voice about what I am building, why I am building it, and the questions that keep returning. It is not the company, and it is not the laboratory. It is the identity from which those other systems are organized.

sedat.tech is the research lab and writing home for Computational Behavioral Law and related systems thinking. PriorLex is the institutional company layer operating the infrastructure for legal process systems and behavioral signal research. Computational Behavioral Law itself is the methodology being developed, not the company. Cimbom, AmedBarikat, and SundayPulse are live behavioral observation environments: high-engagement communities where collective decision-making, emotional response, and institutional trust can be observed in motion.

How the pieces fit
Person → Lab → Institution → Observation environments → Legal/process outputs

Research
  • My research laboratory and writing home. This is where Computational Behavioral Law, essays, research notes, and experimental systems are developed in public.
Company
  • The institutional company layer. PriorLex operates the infrastructure for legal process systems and behavioral signal research, and carries that work into durable, operational form.
Behavioral Data Systems · Sports-based
  • A live behavioral signal environment anchored in the Amedspor community, where collective decision-making, emotional response, and institutional trust can be studied within a high-engagement public.
  • The same observational architecture applied within the Galatasaray community: a live behavioral signal environment for studying how groups respond, decide, and stabilize around shared institutions.
  • A live behavioral signal environment built around high-engagement American football audiences, designed to observe collective decision-making, emotional response, and the formation of trust at scale.
Legal Interaction Systems · Traffic-court based
  • Helps Californians understand a traffic citation before the deadline passes.
  • Routes people to the right California courthouse and the right form for what they're trying to do.
  • A case continuity layer. It remembers where a case is, what it is, and what comes next, so users return to their workflow without starting over.

Writing

Most of my writing currently lives at sedat.tech, where I'm developing Computational Behavioral Law, a framework for studying how human behavior shapes legal interaction.

Shorter pieces and notes will start appearing here over time.

If something here speaks to you, I'd love to hear from you. I'm especially interested in hearing from researchers, builders, attorneys, and institutions thinking seriously about legal systems and human behavior.
